Convocado por Sim\u00f3n Bol\u00edvar en un intento por conciliar facciones y evitar la disoluci\u00f3n de la rep\u00fablica, el evento fue conocido como el Congreso Admirable. A pesar de los esfuerzos, las tensiones separatistas en Venezuela lideradas por Jos\u00e9 Antonio P\u00e1ez socavaron los intentos de reconciliaci\u00f3n. Bol\u00edvar renunci\u00f3 a la presidencia, y aunque se promulg\u00f3 una nueva constituci\u00f3n, la Gran Colombia no pudo ser preservada.
